New Equipment

As part of my continued quest to further enhance and improve my photography and the style of shots I can offer, I have recently invested in a couple of bits of new photographic kit.

Firstly, to compliment the black portable background I have been using for a while now, I now also have a white 'hi-key' portable background.

Normally, creating a pure white background requires a proper studio set-up, with separate sets of flash lights to light both the background and the subject, but the product I have invested in is a unique new product from Lastolite called the 'Hilite'.

The Hilite is basically a portable system for producing studio style 'hi-key' effects, allowing images of the style 'Venture' studios have made so popular. Using a pop-up tent type construction, the background pops up in seconds, and can be set up in halls and large living rooms with ease. It then requires only one flash light to light the background, with just one other light required to light the subject.

This product opens so many doors for me, as I can now actively promote a white 'hi-key' effect when fielding shoot enquiries.

Another product I have recently invested in is a professional lightmeter. Manufactured by Sekonic, the leading lightmeter brand, the lightmeter allows me to accurately meter available light conditions for my shoots, leading to perfect exposures and also allowing for more creative lighting.
